Station One

Station one was constructed when the department moved from their location at the current Fredericktown Municipal Building on the village square. Constructed of brick, the station has served the community well and until 2012 stood as a single firehouse that the district operated from. Station one houses an engine, rescue, tanker, two grass trucks, a rescue boat, and technical rescue trailer. The facilities include a radio room, chiefs office, officers room, kitchen, training room, and an indoor training center. Two additional outbuildings are located on the property that the FCFD utilizes for additional equipment and supplies.

Station Two

Construction of station two began in 2012 as the Fredericktown Community Fire District looked for ways to reduce response times, and distribute resources out into Pike Township to better serve the citizens of the district. The firehouse was constructed with the ability to place up to four apparatus as needs change and to allow for growth and expansion. Currently it houses an engine and a large towable generator. A radio room, gear room, and restroom are at station two.

Fredericktown Community Fire District

Proudly serving the townships of Berlin, Middlebury, Morris, Pike, Wayne, and the Village of Fredericktown

The Fredericktown Community Fire District is a progressive and active fire department that protects 9000 residents in 118 square miles of northwest Knox County in Central Ohio. We have 2 personnel on station during the daytime hours throughout the week days supplemented by pay per call volunteers that respond to calls at all hours and days of the week.

Our first due area covers Berlin Township, Middlebury Township, the Village of Fredericktown, a portion of Morris Township, Pike Township, and Wayne Township. We provide fire and rescue services, but not Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to our citizens. EMS services are provided by the Fredericktown Community Joint Emergency Ambulance District. We are primarily a rural area with some retail, commerce, schools, industry, and business. We have in our department fleet two engines, a rescue, tanker, two grass trucks, dive rescue boat, technical rescue trailer, fire ATV, and a chief’s vehicle.

An executive board of trustees comprised of a representative trustee from each township and the village oversees our district. They serve on a voluntary basis receiving no stipend for their work and participation yet remain highly active in their efforts for the district and the community. Our board works very well and close with the Chief, Line Officers, and Firefighters of the department to help attain goals within our financial means and carefully save for future purchases to allow us to safely and efficiently provide services for our community and those surrounding.

Our fire district is funded solely based upon real estate taxes of (2) one-mil levies. Our current main station at 139 Columbus Road in Fredericktown was opened in 1980. Most recently, in the summer of 2013, we officially dedicated a second station in Pike Township to more adequately cover our wide fire district and better serve our residents. The construction of the Pike Township station was completed on township property in a joint effort to drastically reduce cost and allow the fire district to place a station at a very key area.
