CH411, E419, T417, G414 were dispatched at 8:28am on Wednesday to the 7000 block of Bryant Road on the report of a barn fire. Through our pre-planning we knew that this was a large size chicken farm in operation and additional tankers were requested from the Big Walnut Joint Fire District (Sta 39) and Johnsville (Sta 59) in Morrow County.
When CH411 arrived on scene, he located the fire and relayed the information to incoming E419. Upon arrival of E419 the crew stretched an 1 ¾” attack line and quickly extinguished the fire. The building was horizontally ventilated and crews worked to overhaul the insulated ceiling above to check for extension. Once overhaul was completed, firefighters assisted in moving chickens from one end of the barn to another end that was not affected.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the FCFD
All units were back in quarters by 10:10am.
The FCFD had 16 personnel that responded to the call. There were no injuries to firefighters.
