FCFD responds to RD 183 in Morrow County on structure fire

CH411, T417, G414 were dispatched at 11:31am on Wednesday to the 7000 block of Road 183 in Morrow County on the report of a single family residential structure fire. This was a mutual-aid run with the Big Walnut Joint Fire District Station 39.

Upon arrival to scene, CH411 found a single floor structure fully engulfed next to a residence. T417 made the initial attack upon arrival to the scene. Two 1 ¾” hose lines were stretched for fire attack where incoming crews from BWJFD, Mount Gilead, Johnsville, and Porter Kingston worked together from suppression to overhaul. Primary search of the building was completed and one occupant was removed from the house directly across the porch from the fire. A coordinated aggressive attack between all departments responding kept the fire to the initial structure and kept the resident from a complete loss of her home.

Water supply was established just west the scene, with a grass truck drafting water from a pond just off the roadway and filling tankers.

The initial tanker from the FCFD left with two personnel. A total of nine FCFD firefighters responded to the call.

FCFD takes mutual aid run with Jefferson Twp Fire

CH411, CH412, E419, T417 were dispatched at 5:54am on Tuesday morning to Hamilton Road in Richland County on the report of smoke showing in the basement with the smell of something burning. This was a mutual-aid run with Jefferson Township.

T417 and chiefs were put in service once on scene, E419 when almost to the scene.

The FCFD had nine firefighters respond to this call. All units were back in quarters by 6:41am.

FCFD locates crash victim

CH411, R415 and G412 were dispatched at 11:38pm on Saturday evening to the 18000 block of Ankneytown Road on a single vehicle crash with unknown injuries. Fredericktown EMS was also dispatched for a medic.

Upon arrival to the scene, CH411 located the full size pickup truck on it’s side, off the roadway with no one inside. Tracks around the vehicle showed that the person had left on foot and firefighters began searching nearest to the property. R415 staged further down the roadway and followed fresh tracks through the snow in the field. Firefighters located the male driver underneath the bridge, roughly a quarter mile east of where the MVC occurred. The driver was held at the bridge until the Trooper arrived from the crash location.

The male driver was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital.

Crews remained in the area to light the scene and control traffic until released by law enforcement. The crash is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The FCFD had 10 personnel respond to the call. All FCFD personnel were in quarters by 12:50am.

FCFD responds to two vehicle crash involving semi

CH411, and R415 were dispatched at 4:25pm on Wednesday afternoon to the 14000 block of Cassell Road on the report of a two vehicle MVC involving a semi-truck. Fredericktown EMS responded with a medic unit to this call.

Upon arriving to scene, crews found an SUV with moderate damage and a semi-truck further down the roadway with damage to the trailer. No extrication was required of persons in either vehicle. The crew from R415 disabled the vehicle and controlled traffic at the scene during cleanup and investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

One person from the crash was transported to Knox Community Hospital.

The FCFD had a total of 11 firefighters and three cadets respond to this call. All FCFD units were back in quarters by 5:26pm.

FCFD Responds to odor investigation

CH411, CH412, R415 were dispatched to the 12000 block of Yankee Street on Saturday at 2:52pm on an odor investigation.

Upon arrival to the scene, crews checked the home with our 4-gas meter, checking a cooking stove. Nothing found and units were back in quarters by 3:34pm

A total of 11 FCFD firefighters and one cadet responded to this call.

FCFD responds to gas leak

CH411, CH412, R415, E419 were dispatched at 6:24pm on Thursday evening to East College Street in the Village of Fredericktown on an odor investigation.

Crews located a natural gas leak in the yard and Columbia Gas was contacted.

The FCFD had 13 firefighters and two cadets respond to this call.

Water rescue M/A with MVFD

CH411, R415, G412, BOAT416 were dispatched at 7:33pm on Saturday evening to Dike Road in Mount Vernon on the report of several persons hung up in the river. This was a mutual-aid run with the Mount Vernon Fire Department.

FCFD personnel assisted with several members in water rescue suits in the water, along with shore crews to work a coordinated rescue with the MVFD.

The FCFD had 14 personnel respond to this call, maintaining another crew on station to cover other additional runs in our district.

Ohio 13 MVC injures two, closes highway on Monday morning

CH411, R415, E413, G412, G414 were dispatched the area of Ohio 13 just south of the bypass at 7:37am Monday morning on the report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival to the scene, two vehicles were found off the roadway, one with moderate damage and the other heavy damage; both with persons trapped inside. Due to the number of vehicles and damage, a rescue was requested from the Mount Vernon Fire Department, who responded E491 and CAPT491 to the scene.

Medflight was dispatched to the scene for the patient within one of the vehicles.

Crews from FCFD began working on the car with the heavier damage to provide a means of extrication for EMS of their patient. Crews from MVFD worked on the other car, and then came over to assist.

The roadway was shut down due to the number of vehicles on scene and to allow law enforcement time to conduct their investigation. The scene was turned over to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

All FCFD units were back in quarters by 9:01am. The FCFD had seven personnel respond to this call.

 

FCFD Responds to Knox Lake Road MVA on Tuesday

R415, E413, G412, G414 were dispatched at 1:46pm on Tuesday afternoon to the 17000 block of Knox Lake Road on the report of a single vehicle MVC with injuries.

Upon arrival to the scene a single vehicle with heavy damage was found against a tree with a patient trapped inside. Due to the extent of injuries a medical helicopter was requested to the scene. Upon arrival of R415 and incoming companies, the vehicle was stabilized and the patient extricated in a coordinated effort using hydraulic and battery operated tools. 

MedFlight transported the patient to a Columbus area hospital.

Crews kept the roadway closed while the Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted their investigation and vehicle could be removed.

The FCFD had a total of 14 personnel respond to this call. All FCFD units were back in quarters by 3:32pm.

FCFD responds to Stadium Drive to assist Fredericktown P.D.

CH411, ATV411, G414 were dispatched at 7:00am Wednesday morning to the area of Stadium Drive in Fredericktown at the request of the Fredericktown Police Department. Crews responded to the area in order to assist law enforcement in searching for a female that sounded like she was screaming in distress. Crews along with other agencies searched the area thoroughly with nothing found.

The FCFD had seven personnel that responded to the call. All FCFD units were back in quarters at 7:47am.
