M/A for MVC – 1/29/2015

R415 was dispatched at 8:09am on Thursday to the 100 block of North Sandusky in Mount Vernon on the report of a motor vehicle crash. This was a mutual-aid request from the Mount Vernon Fire Department.

R415 was cancelled while en-route to the scene. The FCFD had seven personnel respond to this call.

CHIMNEY FIRE – 1/27/2015

IMG_7495CH411, R415, T417, G412 were dispatched at 11:14am Tuesday to the 20000 block of Waterford Road on the report of a chimney fire.

Upon arrival to the scene by CH411 found only smoke showing from the chimney. The crew of R415 laddered the roof to check the chimney and also sent crews to the attic area to look for extension. Firefighters cleared the cleanout of debris and went in service.

The FCFD had a total of 10 personnel respond to this call. All units were back in quarters by 12:32pm.

M/A Missing Child 1/25/2015

CH411, CH412, R415, G412, G414, ATV411 were dispatched at 3:05pm on Sunday to the 8000 block of OH 314 in Morrow County to assist in locating a missing child. This was a mutual-aid request by lead agency Johnsville Volunteer Fire Department (Sta. 59).

The child was found safely after a great coordinated effort by several agencies.

The FCFD had a total of 16 personnel respond to this call.

M/A – Commercial Fire Alarm 1/24/2015

E419 was dispatched at 2:39pm on Saturday to the 300 block of Pittsburgh Avenue in Mount Vernon on the report on a commercial fire alarm. This was a mutual-aid request by the Mount Vernon Fire Department. E419 was cancelled while enroute, after getting to the city.

The FCFD had a total of 12 personnel respond to this call.

M/A – Residential structure fire 1/24/2015

E419 was dispatched at 11:26am on Saturday to the 100 block of South Norton Street in Mount Vernon on the report of a possible house fire. This was a mutual-aid request by the Mount Vernon Fire Department. E419 was cancelled while enroute.

The FCFD had a total of 10 personnel respond to this call.

Ice rescue training

Members of the Fredericktown Community Fire District met Thursday night for their second meeting of the month. After dinner together the crew headed to Sockman Lake to train for the evening on ice rescue. Firefighters worked not only on rescue of victims in the water, but also self rescue, proper ways to assemble the equipment and knowing what resources are needed.

Residential Structure Fire 1/23/2015

_JHB2427CH411, E419, E413, R415, G412, G414 were dispatched at 2:55pm on Thursday to the 18000 block of Cooke Road on the report of a possible residential structure fire.

Upon arrival of CH411 to the scene a single story residence was found with smoke showing from all sides and marked it a working structure fire. Mutual-aid was then requested of an engine and tanker from Johnsville (Sta.59) in Morrow County. The crew of E419 stretched our garden lay hose line to the walkout basement and made entry, finding heavy smoke. Additional 1 ¾” hose lines were deployed to the front door and to a door off the garage. Crews entered the first floor and checked for fire and extension. Only a minimal amount of water was used for suppression.

Water supply was setup at a nearby pond by the crew of G412.

At this time the fire remains under investigation with an undetermined cause.

There were a total of 19 FCFD personnel that responded to the call. There were no injuries of occupants or firefighters. All FCFD units were back in quarters by 5:48pm.

MVC – Green Valley Rd – 1/15/2015

_JHB2356CH411, R415, E413, G412, G414 were dispatched at 12:51am on Thursday to Green Valley Road in the area of Liberty Chapel on the report of a single vehicle crash into a ravine with multiple injuries. Other companies involved were Mount Vernon Fire Department, Big Walnut Joint Fire District, Morrow County EMS, and Fredericktown EMS.

The vehicle was found over an embankment into the water with heavy damage. Before much work could begin, the vehicle had to be stabilized due to the way it came to rest. Multiple crews were involved with the extrication of the patients and a great amount of teamwork was used to get everyone up to the roadway safely. The two patients from the vehicle were flown to a Columbus area hospital.

The crash is being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The FCFD had 16 personnel respond to this call. All FCFD units were in service by 3:20am.

Moss named firefighter of the year

_JHB2191The Fredericktown Community Fire District would like to congratulate Firefighter Jeremy Moss for being selected the 2014 Firefighter of the Year. The award is voted on by the membership of the FCFD annually and was presented on Friday night by Assistant Chief Dwayne Canter.

Described as a “true firefighting professional that takes on tasks above and beyond,” the accolades that were spoken before the award was presented were many.

Firefighter Moss joined the FCFD in 2012 and is a graduate from the Delaware Area Career Center (DACC) firefighting program with his 240-hour FFII certification. He was awarded the “Instructors Choice Award” from DACC at graduation. Jeremy and his wife Melissa live in the Fredericktown area, have three children, and will be married 21 years in June. He has been employed by F.T. Precision for ten years and is a DH in the heat treat department.

MVC – Fredericktown Amity Rd – 1/3/2015

CH412, R415, G414 were dispatched at 11:40am on Saturday to the 12000 block of Fredericktown-Amity Road on the report of a single vehicle crash with no injuries.

Upon arrival to scene, CH412 advised that the vehicle was on its side with no entrapment and backed units down to non-emergency. The crew of R415 took care of the vehicle involved and other units maintained a lane of traffic. County highway was advised of the road conditions and dispatched a truck to the area.

There were a total of 14 FCFD that responded to the call. All FCFD units were back in quarters by 12:45pm
