CH411, R415, E413, G412, G412 were dispatched at 10:05pm on Tuesday night to Lower Fredericktown-Amity Road in the area of McVay Road on the report of a single vehicle MVC. Automatic aid was provided by R451, and Fredericktown EMS also responded with two medic units.
Additional reports came in that the door could be opened, but that the victim in the drivers seat was still entrapped.
Upon arrival to the scene, a Pontiac Grand Am was found with heavy damage against a cement culvert and the rear of the vehicle in the air. Arriving crews from R415 pulled a 1 ¾” attack line for suppression and began stabilization on the vehicle. As other crews began arriving, they assisted with patient care and extrication. E413 worked to further stabilize the ditch side of the vehicle as crews worked in multiple areas. One of the drivers side doors and the roof was removed to make room to remove the patient.
Due to the extent of injuries, mechanism of injury, and the extent of entrapment involved, a medical helicopter was requested to the scene for transport. Crews established a landing zone west of the scene for MedFlight.
The FCFD had 20 personnel respond to the call. All FCFD crews were back in quarters by 11:56pm.
